Sheikha salama emerging artist fellowship program: Cohort 5 exhibition
After a 10 month long program with SEAF, my first exposure into the world of fine arts was established. The end of the program culminated in an exhibition where we had to put to practice all the expertise, information and concepts learnt throughout the year.
For the installation, I wanted to create a setting that would recreate “goosebump” like feelings of awe and appreciation.
The result was a dark 3x3 meter room with a 3 screens (1 on each wall from the entrance) that would play back a collection of images I’ve taken over the last 2 years, and a single spotlight illuminating a bench. A quiet fan would activate every few minutes to create the sensation of a “breeze”, incense was burnt every day to recreate the smell of burning wood, and finally speakers would playing back music I regularly listen to while out on the field creating these images.
A video playback of the images / music used for the show can be viewed by clicking on the image.
The exhibition ran from 09.08.2018 to 11.04.2018.
abu dhabi cultural foundation: reflections exhibition
Commissioned by Abu Dhabi Tourism and Cultural Authority regarding the reopening of Abu Dhabi’s Qasr Al Hosn / Cultural Foundation; I alongside 3 other Emirati artists created artwork that drew inspiration from our nation’s historical artists.
The result was a video installation, that was created using 2 weeks worth of time lapses with drones and cameras. The locations displayed in the video range from the top most border of the UAE running all the way down south with places in between. Mountains, seas, deserts and cities were all depicted, using time as a common element, to tie past, present and future together.
The exhibition started on 12.07.2018 and will run until 06.07.2019.
