Sony 14mm F1.8 GM Review

Thoughts:

When I first held the Sony 14mm lens in my hand, I laughed. “No way this is a 14mm F1.8… No way!”.

I was fortunate to be, once more as ordained by fate, to be part of the promotional launch program and I could not be more excited. This review is not endorsed in any way, and is purely subjective. Just to let you know right off the bat. I love it.

It’s size and weight are unmatched in this category. And it’s image quality is what we have come to expect when we see a “GM” badge on a lens.

I used this lens on a client shoot that required me to photography and capture Burj Khalifa. I found distortion was very well controlled and pleasing. As for the astrophotography portion, I could not ask for more. Tack sharp, easy to manually focus on the distant stars in the background, ultra wide to let the whole image and night sky in, and bright enough to keep noise to a minimum.

The lens was able to push the creative boundaries of my skill, and I look forward to adding it to my arsenal. The lens is in one word: Superb.
